Twos Program

Everyday Shoreline

Mornings start with prayer and praise to God! The children begin to learn the pledges, to value the Bible (with age-appropriate Hands-On Bible Curriculum) and that we should thank God for everything. Using morning boards, they are introduced to weather, numbers, letters, and calendar concepts. Emphasis is placed on a good foundation in shape and color concepts, and building language. Our students enjoy finger play, which develops hand-eye coordination and music to learn the weekly theme vocabulary. The class balances the day with indoor gross motor development and outdoor experiences to play and socialize.

The children join the other preschool classes for their lunch time. We provide well-balanced hot meals with milk every day to meet their growing needs. As they transition for a two hour nap, teachers work hard to communicate to families with daily grams. When they start their afternoon, a snack and a story get them in gear for play again!

Curriculum Goals

  • Gross motor skills that teach refined balance and coordination in body movements
  • Fine motor skills are gradually introduced through various art materials, play dough, paintbrushes
  • Language skills develop in new words, forming short sentences, and conversations (High Reach Curriculum)
  • Self-help skills improve as they learn to manage their bodies and independent routines
  • Curiosity and interest to understand the world around them leads to daily science discovery

The Classroom

  • Prepared centers offer a balance of child initiated play and developmental benchmarks to be met
  • An adult rocking chair is a source of comfort to each child in daily interactions with their teacher
  • Children build community at the large rug where they practice speech development/ listening skills
  • Materials are all reachable for children to explore their surroundings and to make choices
  • Rooms are equipped with an adjoining bathroom and a diaper changing area as they transition to bathroom independence

What Matters Most

  • God is a part of every day in our two year old program; we strive to teach them about His love!
  • Activities are carefully tailored to meet the child’s stage of development.
  • Students are gently transitioned from the comfort of home to the new experiences in a play based classroom
  • Other than time in PE and a short time with an Aide, your child spends the school day with the primary teacher
  • Guidance is given in positive interactions to nurture the heart of each child
